Calvary Chapel says NO to Rick Warren

(HT: Tim Challies )

Calvary Chapel is NOT reformed.

They have no axe to grind here.

So it’s very significant to me (and should be to you too) when they see parts of Rick Warren’s philosophies and approach to ‘church’ as unbiblical.

Calvary Publishing Pulls Rick Warren’s “Purpose Driven” materials.

(Link fixed).

See ? It’s not just ‘the reformed’ that realize Warren’s stuff is unbiblical.

(now if they’ll stop misrepresenting Calvinism, everything’ll be gravy….)

  1. yo,

that link is not working because it is including ” at the end of it. just a heads up. ( : peace.

  2. I’m willing to bet this will shift after Chuck Smith is gone.

  3. You know what? I’ve never read “The Purpose Driven Life” (nor have I had the desire to read it). But I’ll say this: Whenever I see a book floatin’ around a little too freely (everybody — sinner and saint, was reading and recommending this book), a red flag goes up.

    Hmmm…

Several months ago, I believe I may have contacted your website in regard to a man whose name is William (“Bill”). If I am correct about having previously contacted your site, I thank you for your prayers and ask that you please continue to pray with me for this man’s salvation (also, for his healing from an unspoken ailment). I am not in a position to witness to this man personally, but others have been contacted to this regard. Please ask the Lord to extend His spirit to facilitate and lead a conversational witness through anyone whom He may choose. Please ask God to extend His grace toward Bill, doing everything needed to chase him, overcome his pride, lift the veil from his eyes, bring conviction to his heart and show him his need for a Savior. Like us all, Bill has made some mistakes, and has unfortunately had some tragic things to happen in his life. Please also ask God to sober him, to protect him, to purify his mind, to work on his heart with His spirit; that He’ll place him in the company of believing friends, and that He will not only save Bill, but will use his testimony to bring others to Christ and further the kingdom.
I’ve been praying for this man for a long time, now. Regardless of what His will may be, please ask the Lord to uphold my faith in Him; to keep my faith strong in knowing that His word will not return to me void.

In Him for His glory and with sincere thanks,
    Sarah S
