I’ve been up for about 3 hours or so. I’m still partially drugged up (Oxycodone and Acetamenophen = Percocet!), but feeling much better than two days ago. I was supposed to be heading out to meet up with folk for the Holy Culture Radio east coast fellowship, but it seems like that won’t be happening. Bummer. I was really looking forward to meeting up with folks, as well as having my EP ready for distribution.

Not too much of a biggie. I enjoyed two days of rest, really. I pray that my room hasn’t been completely ripped apart by the little urchins, but I fear the worst. Lord willing, I’ll be back at work on Monday morning feeling refreshed.

No, you’re not missing anything – I haven’t mentioned what my ‘medical issue’ was and I won’t – at least not publicly. Just keep a brutha’s health in prayer, as I endeavor to follow my doctor’s advice and drink more water.

Being home all yesterday also gave me a chance to reflect on some things.

I caught a very disturbing post by Michelle Malkin of an Islamic protest over in Europe over some cartoons that depicted Muhummad. So much for ‘religion of peace’. There’s peace – at submission at the end of the sword. There’s peace…. if you’re a muslim. I would, however, like to find out what the heck the U.S. State Department was thinking in ‘agreeing’ with the condemnation of these said cartoons and condemning the mocking of the religious faith of these folks. Yeah, it might earn you a few brownie points in the middle east, but it’s hypocritical – especially since they don’t even blink an eye to any of the mockings of Christianity that go on in this country daily.

Steve Camp gave a short commentary on the whole End of the Spear controversy in the “out of their minds” side block on Camp On This:

-THE END OF THE SPEAR: is the movie adaptation of the real life story of five missionaries (Ed McCully, Jim Elliot, Peter Fleming, Nate Saint, and Roger Youderian) who died after being speared by natives on a sandy beach along the Curaray River in Ecuador. The controversy surrounding this movie began with the casting of actor Chad Allen (to play the role of Nate Saint) who is an outspoken, gay activist and practicing homosexual. BUT, the real issue is not Mr. Allen’s gayness; it is Steve Saint (Nate Saint’s son) and Every Tribe Entertainment for ultimately approving of Allen’s participation in the film (2 Cor. 6:14-7:1).

Allen is hardly a box office draw and member of Hollywood’s “A” list actors. So the obvious question is… why him? There’s no pragmatic reason at face value. Why compromise the integrity of the message of this film by hiring not a name movie star, former sitcom, gay-activist to play the role of a modern day hero of the Christian faith? And again, this done by the choice of Steve Saint and a supposed Christian film company, ETE? Needless to say, Steve Saint (and ETE) have erred in their decision and have much to answer for. Steve has sadly contributed to tarnishing the memory and mission of his own father by this unfortunate severe lapse of biblical discernment (1 Thess. 5:21ff).

BTW, the film nowhere presents the gospel; barely- if at all – mentions the name of the Lord (Col. 3:17); and turns the true life story of five brave men burdened to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ to lost people who had never heard of Him (Rom. 15:20), into a secularized, humanitarian, politically correct, wishy-washy B-rated movie. You can read the whole story in Jason Janz’s excellent article featured at Sharper Iron. May I encourage you to pray for Chad Allen to be granted saving faith; and to also pray for Steve Saint and ETE that they would repent and make this right to the body of Christ.

Further incentive for me not to even waste my time or money going to see this. I hope folks’ come off of their pride and arrogance at ETE and repent. It says a lot more about Christian character to admit you publicly made a mistake than to keep trying to make excuses and cover it up.

I’m not as interested in politics as I used to be. There are a few folks who are still stuck in 2004 thinking that ‘conservative’ = ‘Christian’ and then painting me with that label, but they simply just need to grow up in their thinking. As I’ve said before, there are plenty of conservative democrats as there are liberal republicans. On the issues that matter the most, I’ll stand next to a pro-life democrat any day of the week.

I obviously ticked off a few people over on the 5th with my post of James Spurgeon’s initial post on the Local Church. Ol’ Howlin’ Coyote himself has actually given me a bit of steam to go ahead and do a write-up on this subject for the front page of the site.

I’m going to get off this computer now. I think I’ve slept so much on Thursday and Friday that my body’s now officially ‘caught up’…. so I’m going to get some recording stuff done (if I don’t fall asleep as soon as I go back in the bedroom and lie down…. the medicine is still affecting me a bit….).

Yeah, that sounded convoluted. eh.
