Day 1 (parts 1 and 2, since we’re on an A-B block schedule) is over and done with. Interesting groups of kids. 7th graders ain’t too much different than 9th graders. 8th graders are a mix of 9th and 10th graders.

Wherever there is a social structure that has one group at the ‘top’ or ‘leadership’ status, maturity will surface.

I can’t wait until Monday when my band kids start playing.

Good thing: I have an extension in my room!
Bad thing: my cell phone won’t get a signal in my room.

Good thing: I’m going to have fun with my 7th and 8th graders who want to learn.
Bad thing: I do have a few knuckleheads…. but only having a ‘few’ is really a good thing. no life can be completely free of knuckleheads at any given time anyway……

Good thing: the first two days of school are over. People should be mostly used to the schedule by now.
Bad thing: Creative arts only has a 60 min block. So when these other teachers drag their kids down late, they cut into my time.

More good and bad to come. Right now, I’m EATING my orange juice (it’s partially frozen to the consistency of a slurpee in my fridge).

Off to get work done. Going home at a DECENT hour today.
