Courtesy of a nice donation I received, I have successfully upgraded a G3 Tower (blue and white) from a 400 Mhz G3 with 256 MB RAM and a DVD drive to a 1 Ghz, 120GB internal HD, 768 MB of RAM, 5 USB 2.0 ports and an Apple DVR-127 DVD+/- RW/CD-R/RW Dual Layer drive. All for less than $500.
Okay, well a tiny bit over $500 counting the ATA cable I had to buy. I’ve also picked up a new iPod (30GB
).
Originally, I was going to upgrade this computer for someone else, but since that fell through, it’s going to be my *media* computer now – mainly music and video. As soon as I get done re-arranging things around here on my desk, it’s ON.
Besides, this serves as a mild diversion from talking about my grandmother.
Uh oh. I talked about her. ![]()
I’ll post an update on that soon. And no, I’m not avoiding. I saw her last night and it was hard to deal with, but I dealt with it. A good cry and prayer can be helpful. The hard part is learning to use wisdom to think in advance about other things related to this.
Gone.
