Okay, I’m extra geeked and all. I got a chance not only to hear one of my favorite authors speak tonight (I have a short list of favorite authors – James White from Alpha and Omega Ministries and Bruce Ware are probably the top two), but I got a chance to meet him, talk to him, get two of my books by him signed AND take a pic with him!
How cool is that ?
Dr. Ware is on faculty at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He’s written a number of books against the heresy known as ‘Open Theism’ or the ‘Open View’ of God and some other subjects. His talk tonight was on trusting God. You can hear the passion for God in this man’s voice and his words when He preaches and teaches. He’s like me- He speaks with his hands. 
He talked about the componets of trust in God and compared them to a 3-legged stool. In order for the stool to stand, the legs must be strong. Likewise, in order for our faith and trust in God to be legit and strong, they must be….

I’m glad you had a wonderful time. Sounds like Bro Ware really brought the truth home to your conscience. I was at a similar crossroads some years ago. Incidentally the Lord used that experience marvellously in my heart to mold and guide me, and as painful as it was I greatly appreciated it (Psalm 119:65-72).

Just saw this link at The Puritan Board. Touching, it really is. I haven’t prayed properly for reformation to come to african american churches in the country. I think I’ll start praying for that more specifically from here on out. So many wonderful, godly people under astonishingly bad prosperity and health/wealth teaching… If God were to grant reformation then I’m certain that revival in the community would follow.
As for the republican part, I’m not sure which will be harder to find. A republican or a calvinist african american woman. That’s a tough one! Perhaps you’d have better luck finding a socially conservative, but fiscally liberal amyrauldian african american woman? 😀
