Yes, I know it’s been a week since I blogged. I’ve had at least three people check me on blogging over the past week. Just been busy in ‘real life’ off the computer.

Today’s special. You’ll notice it’s 12/4/05. I started THIS blog on 12/4/04. It’s evolved over the past year from mostly personal thoughts to actually (I hope) contributing something to the blogsphere besides what I had for lunch.

Technically, I’ve been ‘blogging’ since 97. Thanks to the fact that I’m a software and document packrat, I’ve got stuff saved from 97 up to the present. I wanna say I’ve actually been doing some things before that, but I can’t remember and the Internet Archive doesn’t go that far back (96 in this case) for any edition of my site.

Speaking of which, we’re coming up on the 10 year anniversary (yes, seriously!) of Theologically Correct dot Com Ministries on the net. I came on the net as W.I.T.N.E.S.S. Ministries in January of 1996, which I ‘officially’ founded in 93.

I modelled my ‘Epistles’ or ‘Letters’ after Glenn Miller’s Letters from the Man Behind the Curtain, which were my quick and easy way of letting visitors know what was going on with me and what to pray for in my life. I thank God for all of you who’ve been praying for me. One person from ‘the ancient days of 2400 and 9600 bps modems’ that comes to mind is Dr. Arlen Payne. Pastor Payne always told me that he would pray for me during his time relaxing in the sauna. I truly do believe that his consistent prayers (among others) over the years are part of the reason why I’ve been ‘kept by God’. Arlen’s got a TV and radio ministry going now, so that’s good. I’ve been meaning to check it out, but you know how time gets.

So much has gone on during the past year, it’s been a whirlwind. I praise God for all the good folk I’ve met up with, all the folk who’ve encouraged me (including all of you regular blogreaders and posters). God’s been good to me through this blog. . Just look at the last blog entry before this one.

Well, it’s 2:19. I need to get some sleep. Y’all folk just keep a brutha in prayer about making wise decisions. I’m taking a huge risk that I believe will result in both personal blessings as well as the opportunity to bless other folk in the body of Christ – both directly and indirectly.

I’m reminded of the scene in Finding Nemo where Dory and Nemo’s dad Marlon, were in the mouth of the whale and the whale begins to swallow the water in its’ mouth, but roars out something in whale that Dory seems to understand…….

Dory: He says…it’s time to let go! Everything’s gonna be alright!

Marlon: How do you know ? How do you know somethin’ bad isn’t gonna happen ?

Dory: (slight pause) I don’t!

And they both let go of the whale’s tongue, fall into the back of the throat…. and get blown out the blowhole into the Sydney Harbor, where Marlon goes on to find his son. Huge risk that paid off. All by letting go.

Piper talks about taking risks in Don’t Waste Your Life. I won’t quote at length here, but head to Desiring God and check the whole book out (in their online library) for free for yourself. Safety is an illusion. We selfishly take risks every day that we believe will personally benefit us – so it is selfish to not take risks which could result in the advancement of the Kingdom of God.

So I’m letting go of my security blankets I’ve been holding onto all these years and diving head-first into something completely wonderful, but virtually unknown – courtship with a wonderful woman of God. She’s everything I asked God for and much more. And Lord willing, this thing will result in a godly lineage, blessings for other folk via this ministry… and much more things that I have dreamt about for ages. I absolutely don’t deserve her in any shape, form or fashion. But God is gracious…. and routinely gives us things – AND PEOPLE – that we don’t deserve.

Keep me… and ‘Meeky’ in prayer.
