Okay, so it’s sounds like a rip of Blogspotting. Phil’s off doing major work around church, speaking and such, so I can come up with a duplicate name in the meantime.

With that said…..

– Justin Taylor has both the opening address by John Piper at the Suffering and the Sovereignty of God Conference and an hour long interview with John. While you’re visiting , be sure to congratulate Justin on winning a Warnie!

– Speaking of Adrian Warnock, he did a little check to see which Bible translation most bloggers use. Interestingly, the ESV made his list and is doing quite well. For those not familiar with the English Standard Version, be sure to check the ESV website and get some info. I highly recommend this translation and it’s fast becoming my favorite, next to the NKJV…. and it’s edging out the NIV easily.

– Speaking of the ESV, be sure to check out the ESV Blog. The ESV – the only Bible with its’ own blog.

– On another note, I’d like to introduce my readership to Pastor Phillip Way. Pastor Way has resigned as moderator and administrator for The Puritan Board. Pastor Way’s comments and reasons for his resignation are worth reading by those of you who frequently read and participate on message boards, as he’s echoed a lot of my own inner issues with ‘Christian’ internet bulletin boards as of late. Those of you who know me know that I’ve recently lowered a lot of my theological discourse on ‘Christian’ boards for some of the same reasons Pastor Way has had issues with the Puritan Board. In fact, if you all remember a little post I made a while ago on Reformed Arrogance and Theological Superiority (or Snobbery), some of the same issues I mentioned and the attitudes held by some of my wonderful ‘reformed’ brethren are some of the same ones that Phil mentions.

Let me take a moment to also say something nice. I originally had a ‘mental’ image of Phil as being a bit of a stiff-shirted guy from reading some of his posts on the Puritan Board. But I’ve been reading a lot more of what he’s posted over the past few months and he’s actually a pretty cool guy and nowhere near as ‘uptight’ as I thought. He’s got a big heart and he’s passionate about the truth – something I wish ALL pastors had and were.

– Steve Camp talks about lonliness and the Christian responsibility to reach out to folks, using an old Beatles song as an example. It just so happens I have Eleanor Rigby (Ray Charles’ cover of it) on the iPod as I type this. I like his better.

– Jason Engwer over at Really Clear Theology Blog posts an interesting observation on the selective use of historical majorities by Roman Catholics. Of course, any knowledgable protestant should be familiar with the usual historical appeals by Catholics – except when things like Irenaeus claiming Jesus lived till almost 50 contradict their ‘Tradition’ (with a big T)….

– Speaking of Roman Catholicism, my last post has generated a full-blown conversation with Steve from Free Thinking Faith on exactly what Paul was talking about in the book of Romans and whether or not Rome was right in rejecting justification by faith. Regular readers Macharia and Redeemed have chimed in. Join the fun.

– Fred Butler comments on Sadaam’s insolence and defiance and posts quite a hilarious blog. Need a good laugh ? Read it. I’ve been thinking much the same thing about some of the children I teach….

– The Jolly Blogger gives us a good post on a working definition of theology. He draws heavily from John Frame’s book the Doctrine of the Knowledge of God. If you’ve been scared of the big ‘T’ word, or think it’s only something that ‘pastors and clergy’ need to know about, read back 2 posts to ‘Kids Need Doctrine Too‘ after you read JB’s post.

– Josh Duncan posts a good response to some comments someone made on an earlier entry he made on the nature of Biblical Calvinism. If you’re one of those folks who eschews labels or says things like ‘I’m a Biblicist’ – read this post.

– Speaking of Biblical Christianity and Calvinism, Daniel has posted a great entry on how Calvinists do more to muddle their own presentation of their position for definite atonement than others do. Bravo. I’m going to give this one a re-read when I get home from Panera (yes, I’m still here….LOL)…..

– Speaking of Definite Atonement, Tony posts a bit of R.L. Dabney on John 3:16. More good reading…..

– Anthony Bradley wants to know what makes you cuss. I think some folks in the comments section have gone a bit overboard though….

– Over in Anthony’s other blog, he talks about the Pussification of the American Male. For the record, the Pussy Willow is a plant. (nice save there, Anthony).

– Finally, Monergism.com has opened up a blog (isn’t everyone blogging these days ?) at Reformation Theology.com. Their second entry by John Hendryx talks about the age old problem of harmonizing Sovereignty, Responsibility and Moral Inability. Looks like good stuff.

That’ll keep everyone busy for now. I’m off to do some serious legwork on a long overdue sola scriptura response to a beloved (but slightly off-base) sister in Christ over on the 5th Quarter, then I’ve got a stop to make over on ODB in a thread about pleasing God….. Romans 8:6-9 send help.
